關于電影：

年輕的聯邦調查局官員克拉麗斯·斯達林接受了一項任務：幫助尋找一個失蹤的婦女，而這個婦女正受到一個把受害者的皮剝下來的變態系列殺手的威脅。

　　漢尼伯·萊克特以前是位受人尊敬的精神病醫生，現在卻成精神變態者。克拉麗斯想通過與漢尼伯談話來了解心理變態殺手的扭曲的心靈。聯邦調查局警官杰克·克勞福特認為漢尼伯非常聰明機智，通過與他談話有助于發現案犯。克拉麗斯必須在漢尼伯透露任何情況之前努力贏得他的信任。
