對于英國電視迷來說，《神秘博士》(Doctor Who)這套電視劇集的確是經典中的經典，在經過一段時間后便會拿來重拍，尤如美國的星際旅行〔StarTrek〕。2005年，英國 BBC 電視臺便找來David Tennant及Billie Piper再一次飾演聰明絕頂的Doctor Who及女拍擋Rose Tyler。雖然現時的拍攝技巧及計算機動畫已非常的進步，但因為要保持著Doctor Who的一貫風格，故在劇中很多道具以及場景等都刻意做成懷舊味道，例如外星人Dalek就繼續設計成肥肥大大的樣子，非常有趣！該劇是一個內容豐富、極具追看性的科幻歷險故事。故事主人翁the Doctor是一個機智英勇，能穿越時間空間的冒險家。他與其親密拍擋Rose在進行緊張刺激的宇宙探索之際，竟遇上了有意毀滅地球的外層空間怪物 - Dalek。憑著the Doctor的機智及能力，究竟他能否阻止 Dalek 侵襲地球，避免這場浩劫的發生？

　　Doctor Who到底是哪一位博士呢，這個問題一直縈繞在每個人的腦際。我們僅所知的是他是Gallifrey星球的時間主宰，智慧絕頂卻不乏幽默氣質，他通過TARDIS這個宇宙飛船穿越二維空間（時間和空間），飛船看上去像一個英國警察崗亭，外面空間不大，里面卻寬敞無比。2006年，博士已經是拍到第10位了，這個新生體與來自地球和其他星球的同伴漫步宇宙，抗擊壓迫，智取邪惡的外星人，發狂的電腦，機器人殺手以及另外一位叫法師的時間主宰，是他讓宇宙成為一個和平的充滿生機的地方。

　　《Doctor Who》的故事圍繞著擁有神奇力量、可以縱橫時空、穿梭宇宙、主宰時間的外星人「博士」。博士表面上看來跟平常地球人沒半點分別，卻背負著保護地球的使命。原來一向平靜安寧的地球危機四伏，多個外太空星球的入侵者都對擁有豐富資源的地球不懷好意，經常想伺機征服，若然不是博士總在危急關頭出手相助，相信人類早就成為外星人的階下囚。陪同博士出生入死的除了他那部裝成是公共電話亭的時空機外，還有一位勇敢機智的地球人羅莎。博士與羅莎合作無間，遨游于宇宙無盡的空間，經歷一段比一段刺激的科幻旅程。

　　高尖的特技配合逼真的化妝，《Doctor Who(2005)》成功創造出一個超現實的科幻世界于觀眾眼前，規模之大、制作之認真為英國電視史寫下新一頁。推出以后，《Doctor Who(2005)》的收視亦不負所望，平均吸引超過七百九十萬的觀眾收看，占總市場40%，更打破了自七十年代開始由第四代博士TomBaker所保持的收視紀錄。
